Kumie is a rare, exotic species of wood. It has a warm reddishbrown color with light streaks, and a very uniform texture.
Due to the similarly of individual pieces, it is supplied mostly in Prime grade. Its texture is smooth and very hard.
In addition to being widely used in flooring, it is also used in furniture and fine carvings.
